SERVICES

Civil & Family Mediation
Mediation provides an opportunity to settle legal disputes without traditional litigation. It saves time and money, and in many cases, makes it possible to continue relationships once a dispute is resolved. This is why mediation is such a popular option for resolving civil and family disputes.

Police & Fire Civil Service Law
Police and firefighters are viewed as authority figures in every community. They risk their lives to protect those of the citizens. Unfortunately, police officers and firefighters sometimes are accused of making mistakes and need legal representation.

Civil & Family Mediation
Mediation provides an opportunity to settle legal disputes without traditional litigation. It saves time and money, and in many cases, makes it possible to continue relationships once a dispute is resolved. This is why mediation is such a popular option for resolving civil and family disputes.

COOPERATIVE FAMILY MEDIATION
The most important thing is to come to the Cooperative Family Mediation session with an open mind.  Be willing to listen, not just hear what is being said. Parents who are open and listen to the other parent, their attorney, and the mediator are the ones who are able to reach an agreement and develop a mutually satisfactory parenting plan. When one or both parents believe that there  is  only  one solution  to  custody  and  visitation  issues,  it  is usually difficult to reach a compromise. If you come prepared to be open, you can brainstorm options until you find a solution that works for everyone, especially your children.

HEALTHCARE LAW
Healthcare law is continuously changing.  Compliance with state and federal statutory and administrative laws and regulations is crucial to the ongoing success of all health care providers.  Hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, DME companies, pharmacies, therapists, psychologists, and all other medical providers and contractors need comprehensive internal policies and procedures that implement and document effective compliance procedures to ensure the best quality of care for their patients and protect against civil exposure and criminal liability.

FAMILY LAW
Family Law refers to the legal issues that can arise within families.  This includes divorce, custody, support, partition of property, guardianship of elders, and various other issues.  Family law is often a delicate subject because dealing with issues can be emotional.  It is important for attorneys dealing with family law to understand how sensitive issues can be and help disputing parties communicate effectively.

APPELLATE PRACTICE
In civil litigation, the courts render rulings and judgments which generally favors of one or more parties and against the other party(ies) throughout a case.  Many orders, judgments, and rulings in Louisiana state court may be reviewed by appellate courts by an Application for Supervisory Writ in civil litigation.  Final judgments rendered after trial, summary judgment, or dismissal on the pleadings are appealable to the appropriate appellate court as a matter of right in federal and state court.

MUNICIPAL LAW
Municipal law pertains to local, regional, state, national and international laws which affect the proper operation of local governments and agencies.  These are the laws that affect communities and everyday life.  In order for a community to flourish, the support of an attorney that understands municipal law is often necessary.
Whether an issue arises related to employment and labor laws, or there is a need for a better understanding regarding open meetings laws within a community, public bid laws, budget issues, contracting issues, governmental ethics, or enacting ordinances and resolutions, it is essential for community leaders to have the backing of a legal expert.

WILLS & SUCCESSIONS
Succession and Estate law is one of the most complicated legal fields in existence.  Understanding Louisiana forced heirship law is important for all families but particularly with blended families.   Unfortunately, resolution of these complex matters often becomes an issue during emotionally trying times.  If a family member has failed to create an enforceable will or if the will created is being contested, the assistance of an experienced attorney is essential.  Family members should do all they can to ensure the desires of their loved one is carried out to the best of everyone’s ability, and that often means hiring an attorney.
